Although born upstate New York, Michael grew up in and around the New York City area listening to the sounds of the 60’s and 70’s.

Heavily influenced by the singer song writers of that generation, Neil Young, Lou Reed, Ray Davies, Warren Zevon, and Elliott Murphy

He spent most of the 90’s busking through Europe, Asia and the Middle East, where he learned to say “Beer” in seventeen different languages, spending most of his time living in London and Paris, eventually ending up in Sydney, Australia where he fronted the band “Buffalo Thunder.” Playing such venues as the Hard Rock Café.

After 2 years in Oz he was “ politely asked to leave by two extremely large immigration officers who proceeded to confiscate my passport and guitar.” He sought refuge in the nearest American boarder town of Maui, Hawaii where he lived for 5 years before coming to Atlanta in late ’97. “Playing in beach bars is fun for a while but after a while there’s nothing much to write about. As Charles Bukowski would say “Nobody who could ever write worth a shit can write in peace and quiet”. I’m from New York give me your tired, your hungry, your poor, we’ll club ‘em to death” (from Lou Reed’s New York)

He can be seen regularly at The Red Light Café, The Midtown Tavern, and Lymric’s Junction among many other venues. He also hosts the legendary open mic at The RedLight Café on Wednesday nights where he’s taken over for Atlanta music icon and his dear friend John Madden who passed away unexpectedly on St. Patrick’s Day 2008. “No-one can ever fill John’s shoes. I can only try to walk the same path chasing his shadow.” The Red Light Open Mic has been the launching pad for such national acts as Shaw Mullins and The Indigo Girls. “I’ll put the talent here up against any open mic in the country. Including Nashville. Here anyone’s welcome, from rappers to folk musicians, from veterans to first timers. Artists support artists. It’s a community. If you want competition   watch a football game or American Idol.
